The INSiGHT nervous-system scan
INSiGHT scanning is a non-invasive technology used by chiropractors to measure how the nervous system is functioning. It combines three tests, thermal, surface EMG and heart-rate variability, to show where lifestyle stress and subluxations are affecting your ability to adapt. At illumINNATE it is included in every initial assessment and repeated at progress checks, for newborns, kids and adults.

The three scans
- Thermal scan: measures skin temperature along the spine to find where the autonomic nervous system is out of balance.
- Surface EMG: measures the electrical activity of the muscles along the spine, showing where the body is holding tension and where it has become exhausted.
- Heart-rate variability (HRV): measures how adaptable your nervous system is, the balance between "fight or flight" and "rest and digest".
Why we scan
Pain is not a reliable measure of health; many people with significant nervous-system stress feel fine, and pain is usually the last thing to appear. The scan gives us, and you, an objective picture at the start, and a way to see change over time that is not just "how do you feel today".
Scans are painless and take a few minutes. Nothing is emitted into the body; the sensors only read what your body is already doing.

Frequently asked questions
Is the INSiGHT scan safe for babies and pregnant women?
Yes. The sensors only read temperature, muscle activity and heart rhythm; nothing is emitted. It is used routinely with newborns and during pregnancy.
How long does it take?
A few minutes for all three scans. Children are scanned as far as they can sit still, and that is enough.
Can I get scanned without becoming a patient?
